The IT sector will continue to dominate this region’s growth story. Mixed development has been widespread around here and there has been a surge in demand in the Whitefield area. The industries functioning out of here include IT, BT, ITeS, service, manufacturing and realty.
Ancillary units catering to automobile and capital goods have also seen growth. From a sleepy suburb to one of the fastest growing regions with several medium and large-scale industries, the area has grown from beyond the ambit of public sector giants such as HAL, BEML, ITI and NGEF which were once the mainstay here. As a result, Krishnarajapuram, Mahadevapura, Whitefield Road and Old Madras Road up to Hoskote, became the industrial belts of Bangalore, which attracted capital investments from many industrialists.
The KIADB and Karnataka Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (KSSIDC) developed the industrial sheds and land in what is now called the Greater Bangalore Industries Association 40 years ago. There are three main industrial associations functioning in this region – the Whitefield Export Promotion Park Industries Association (WEPPIA), The Greater Bangalore Industries Association (GBIA) and the Hoskote Industrial area. This region is dotted with many business parks, tech parks, and SEZs.
The Outer Ring Road (ORR) is one of the main connectivity projects that have spurred growth in the region. The proposed Phase II of the Metro Rail too promises to give the region an edge.
Proximity to the ORR has seen the expansion of commercial and residential development. Many multi-tenanted facilities and builtto-suit spaces are on the anvil here. Residential options include villas, gated communities, apartment complexes, and private layouts.
